LXF, Lisbon

Today’s post is about something where I have been a couple of weeks ago. The atmosphere there was so special and weird that I have to share it with you!

With my friends I visited Lisbon after our exams. My friends boyfriend lives there, so we got all the tips and good places from the local.
The last day we have been to the place where I talked about: LX Factory.
It was a kind of arty mini-town. It felt like a complete different world, but it was just 15 minutes from the center.

A little history
The place is settled down under the bridge. Since 1846 this has been an industral place. Back then, this spot was booming because of the industry. After the industrial revolution it fell into disrepair but since 2008 it was rediscovered.

If you walk to the bridge you think “how the hell can there be a mini-city” but if you walk around the corner you see a street with high buildings and fashionable restaurants.

On the website of LX Factory they say : “ A creative island occupied by corporations and professionals of the industry serves also has stage for a diverse set of happenings related to fashion, publicity, communication, fine arts, architecture, music, etc., attracting numerous visitors to rediscover Alcântara through an engaged dynamics.
At LXF you can actually breath the industrial environment at every step. A factory of experiences were intervention, thought, production is made possible. Staging ideas and products in a place belonging to everyone, for everyone”.

Nowadays people like the feeling of not being mainstream and a place like this outside the city will help them to feel unique. We also live in a world fulfilled with big factories and consumption. The thing of this factory is that it helps the small and individuals to start and to support them. Because of the chances they get here it will help them to grow.

Art and creativity is on it’s return. Because of the recession people see that rationalism doesn't have it al. We have to be creative to solve problems. That’s why banks, government and business companies use creative people to help them with their marketing or concept. In a place like LXF there is creativity everywhere so that’s what makes this so cool, but also necessary to have some of these places today.
